Summer of Technology: Laptops, Computing Sites,
Classrooms, WirelessA full array of technology
updates took place during the summer 2009 break beginning
with the replacement of the ten library laptop loaners in
Fairchild-Martindale and Linderman Libraries.
Six computing sites were upgraded with new HP computers and
printers as follows: Fairchild Martindale Computing Center
108 (38 machines), Fritz Lab 605 (25 machines), Grace Hall
28 (29 machines), Seeley Mudd Lab 464 (18 machines),
Whitaker 257 (13 machines), and Packard Lab 502 (18
machines).
During September the ten library laptop loaners in
Fairchild-Martindale and Linderman Libraries will be
replaced. The new Lenovo T400 machines can be borrowed for
up to four hours.
Sixteen classrooms across the campus were upgraded with
new projectors, some with wide-screen display (WXGA) to
better support laptop users and computer applications that
can take advantage of wide-screen capabilities.
LTS has now upgraded the wireless network in Linderman
Library with a similar upgrade in Fairchild Library largely
completed as well. The new wireless technology offers
broader coverage and faster speed, especially for laptops
with network cards that can take advantage of the 802.11n
standard.

configuration can be found at
