Advances Lehigh University
April
sees LTS staff members contributing to the local community
and to professional groups around the country. Lehigh also
hosted the University Librarians Group from 20+ schools
around the country.
Leading
off was Senior Systems Specialist Tim McGeary giving two
presentations at the annual SirsiDynix SuperConference in
Detroit in early April about integrating an open source web
catalog interface into the SirsiDynix Unicorn environment.
Tim has led the effort of several institutions to accomplish
this for VuFind, an interface designed at Villanova
University.
Humanities Librarian Kathe Morrow and Library Access
Services Director Sharon Wiles-Young organized a community
book discussion with the Bethlehem Area Public Library in
preparation for the Dalai Lama visit.
The April
book discussion focuses on the book
Ethics for the New
Millennium by the Dalai Lama. More than 60 people

Client
Services Director Tim Foley is serving as Chair of the ACM
SIGUCCS (Special Interest Group on University and College
Computing Services) Spring Management Symposium in Tucson
during early April and will also be a member of the closing
panel. At the same meeting Technology Management Services
Director Roy Gruver is presenting a session with Princeton
University and the University of Virginia entitled "Who's on
First? Identity
Management Challenges and Possible Solutions" and Computing
Team Leader Gale Fritsche will present a poster session
called "Managing a Growing High Performance Computing
Infrastructure on a Fixed Budget."
Tim Foley
and Sherri Yerk-Zwickl are giving talks at SunGard's
Executive Summit in Anaheim in late April. Tim’s is entitled
"Library Resources to Enhance the Student Experience" and
Instructional Technology Team Leader Sherri Yerk-Zwickl’s
talk is on Web Portals for Prospective Students.
Also
presenting from Lehigh are Mary Louise Powers, Senior
Database Analyst; Greg Skinner, Senior Portal Analyst; and
Ron Wagner, Senior Project Specialist.
