LTS Adds High Performance Computing Capacity, Rental
OptionLibrary and Technology Services recently added
five new systems to its High Performance Computing (HPC)
infrastructure that will give users significantly more
computing power.
These particular additions were recommended by the LTS
High Performance Computing Advisory Committee headed by
Professor Brian Davison. The systems are in operation and
documentation is available on the HPC web pages at
www.lehigh.edu/computing/hpc.
The new systems include 1 - Dell 16 Core compute server, 3 -
Sun 8 core compute servers and 1- SUN 20 Terabyte storage
server. They are allocated to users who have HPC Service
Level II Enhanced accounts. The fee for obtaining a Level II
Enhanced account is $300 annually; an account can be
obtained by using a request form posted at the HPC website
listed above.
For more assistance regarding these new systems or
utilizing High Performance Computing at Lehigh, please
contact Brandon Leeds at byl405@lehigh.edu or Gale Fritsche
at gdf2@lehigh.edu.
At the same time the HPC Computing Committee has developed a
new rental option so that researchers can rent resources for
limited periods of time in order to complete a particular
job.
This option is part of a Library and Technology Services’
commitment to creating a sustainable maintenance and life
cycle model while addressing the needs of faculty involved
in intensive levels of computing as part of their research.
The rental policies and rates are also listed on the HPC
website.
