Lauren Coats Named CLIR Fellow

For the second time, Lehigh is participating in the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) Fellowship Program, designed to give the “best recent Ph.D. recipients in the humanities a unique opportunity to develop as information professionals and scholars.” The LTS CLIR Fellow is Lauren Coats, who recently completed her PhD in American Literature at Duke University.

While working on her degree, Lauren gained  library experience working for the Jay B. Hubbell Center in Duke's Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Library. At Lehigh, she will combine her academic background with the opportunities afforded by Lehigh's digital and information resource initiatives. Among other projects, she will be working on digitizing selections from Lehigh's collection of travel and exploration narratives, a project that is closely related to her doctoral research.

Now in its fourth year, the fellowship provides new scholars in the humanities “a unique opportunity to develop expertise in the new forms of scholarly research and the information resources that support them, both traditional and digital, that are challenging research institutions.” Lehigh’s previous CLIR fellow was Megan Norcia, now an assistant professor at SUNY Brockport.
